Our cameras capture the Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range in its final months before the rail line was bought out by the CN Railway in the spring of 2004. We follow movement on the Missabe Division from Duluth to the Minntac facility at Mt. Iron. You will also see T-Bird trains running from the Thunderbird North Mine in Eveleth to the recently reopened United Taconite Plant in Forbes. We then take you on a tour of the Iron Range Division from Iron Junction to Two Harbors.
DM&IR's rebuilt tunnel motor SD-40 dash 3's are accompanied by SD-38's and the Missabe's rebuilt SD-9 and SD-18 locomotives. You'll experience even more variety as you watch BNSF and CN "All-Rail" trains that traverse the DM&IR.
This DVD truly captures a time in history that can never be replaced. The Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range railroad shines in this documentary as C. Vision Productions captures its movements in The Last Days.

The program starts showing double stack and grain trains grinding up Archer Hill, whilst we can see Cheyenne below in the distance. Multiple units are required to pull the heavy loads up the gradient and up the 'S' bends of the famous Archer Hill. The high plains rise from 2,500 feet to 6,000 feet through this semi arid region.
Sit back and watch Union Pacific hotshots, double stacks, grain trains, manifests and coal trains on the high plains of Wyoming, Colorado and Nebraska. The Sidney Sub, part of the Overland Route, runs from Cheyenne to North Platte and sees up to 50+ trains a day. Grain elevators decorate the landscape, and make an impressive background to the constant parade of trains.

In the summer of 2004 the IC&E re-activated most of the IMRL SD40's and, quite amazingly, SD9 #614. Other locomotives including former IMRL GP9's, SD45's, and of course ICE's SD40-2's and GP40-2's are seen in operation. Watch in awe as former Soo Line GP9 locomotives are seen in mainline local service between Nahant and Clinton, Iowa.
From surreal scenes of the moon rising over the Sabula causeway to rotating stop sign- equipped Griswold crossing signals, this video is something to behold. The Milwaukee #261, I&M Rail Link, Illinois Central, Progressive Rail, and CP/Soo are also seen in this show. Regional railroads are an important part of Midwest railroading, and the IC&E's operations are testament to the importance of keeping freight moving across the heartland. With the natural beauty of the land, combined with exceptional trains, this video shows you the best of the Iowa, Chicago and Eastern!

Step back in time and enjoy the parade of Burlington Northern trains in Powder River Power!
In the summer of 2008, Cliffs Erie revived the line for one last time. They brought back the famous set of F-9 locomotives to move taconite fines from the former LTV dock at Taconite Harbor to the Hoyt Lakes mine site for transloading onto trains for the Severstal Steel plant in Baltimore, Maryland. Only a handful of these trains were operated and C. Vision was granted special access to ride in the cab between Taconite Harbor and Tunnel Siding! Not only will you get a chance to view the scenic beauty of northern Minnesota from these 1956 built locomotives, but we also captured several trackside views from Taconite Harbor to Hoyt Lakes, including shots of the very last train that ran on October 28, 2008.
The sound of this A-B-B-B-A set of F-9's grinding up the grade out of the Lake Superior dock will amaze any rail enthusiast! You even get to view the train going through the long tunnel from the cab!
You won't want to miss this exciting show, as you won't find a set of 5 F-9's in freight service in the United States ever again! If you love F-Units, this video is a must for your collection!

At the border of Riverside and San Bernardino Counties in Southern California lies one of the most interesting and scenic mountain passes in the Southwest. Some call it Banning Pass or San Gorgonio Pass, but most railfans simply refer to it as Beaumont Hill. We present complete coverage of Beaumont Hill from West Colton to Indio in six hours of pounding, railroading action!
Although it peaks at only 2,591 feet above sea level, Beaumont Hill still presents sufficient hardship to rival taller passes. Yet, flanked by Mount San Gorgonio to the north and Mount San Jacinto to the south, it has a beautiful charm all its own. Known now as UP's Yuma Subdivision, the 76-mile line is mostly double-tracked and busier than ever.
In addition to Union Pacific, you'll see engines from Ferromex, NS, CSX, BNSF, CEFX, GCFX, plus survivors from C&NW, Rio Grande and SP-and those are just the units we captured on the point! You'll also see the SP, MKT, Mopac and WP Heritage units. Many engine models are represented, ranging from the SD38-2 to the newest SD70ACe and Dash 840C to the mighty GEVO. We even caught a rare GP15-1 in doublestack service! Autos, lumber, and intermodal trains dominate the line. The "Rock Train" and Amtrak's Sunset Limited are well covered and UP's Centennial 6936 is seen pulling many passenger specials. There's much more to see in this unending parade of dazzling color, open throttles, squealing brakes, and serpentine curves!
Over five years in the making, across the four seasons, under broiling summer sun and snow on the Pass, through windstorms and sandstorms, from dawn to dusk, this is the Ultimate Beaumont Hill! Price: £29.00

It's one of the roughest, toughest mountain passes, where heavy tonnage trains battle 2.2 percent grades and up to three sets of helpers are needed for the haul. It's a line of repeated horseshoe curves, with two long trestles, and a 3,896-foot long tunnel that crosses the Continental Divide. It's located in the Big Sky country of Montana, where endless vistas of mountains and cloud-filled skies create a scenic backdrop for trains of 100-plus cars. It's a place where two railroads juggle nonstop traffic over 29 miles of partially single-tracked mountain rails. Welcome to Mullan Pass!
Burlington Northern and Montana Rail Link shared the line when Video Rails captured the excitement on this legendary Pass in 1990. Starting at Helena Junction, we see BN and MRL trains depart for the steep climb to the summit. Every westbound train needs helpers and MRL's heaviest power is assigned to its helper pool. SD40-2s and SD45s make up the bulk of the power seen here. 15,000-ton coal trains with 45,000 HP grind their way up the 2.2 percent grade, past Iron Ridge, Greenhorn Trestle, and Skyline Trestle to Mullan Tunnel, Blossburg Siding, and Elliston. Huge clouds of diesel exhaust billow out of the tunnel, making it easy to see why it's called the "Black Fog of Blossburg."
A special treat is a cab ride across the Pass in the lead helper engine of BN Train 195, a daily mixed freight. Whether you're viewing the line from the crews' perspective, from trackside, or through vast panorama views, railroading on Mullan Pass is an awesome experience you'll want to enjoy again and again!

This line is BNSF's Black Hills Subdivision. It handles numerous coal trains on a daily basis. In this production, C. Vision captures images from 1990 thru 1994 in the Burlington Northern years. SD-40 dash 2's, C-30 dash 7's and SD-60M's take charge of coal trains in the BN era. There are also several LMX B-39 dash 8's and B.N. B-30 dash 7A's in charge of general freights. These historic trains are combined with SD-70 MAC's, SD-70 ACe's, Dash 9-44AC's and ES-44AC's that were captured in 2006 and 2007 in the BNSF years.
Don't miss this show as it captures two different time frames and documents the progression of the BNSF in "Newcastle"!

C. Vision's tour of railroads in and around the Chicagoland area continues in Windy City Rails, Volume 4.
In this program, videographer Marshall Beecher takes his cameras to several locations along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe's Triple Track Main from Chicago to Aurora. This ex-Chicago Burlington and Quincy main line does double duty as it hosts trains traversing to and from the Twin Cities on the Aurora Sub and Galesburg on the Mendota Sub. Numerous high priority intermodal, coal and general freight trains share these rails with Amtrak and Metra. Run-through trains from the Canadian National and Union Pacific also operate on the Triple Track. At the east end near Union Avenue, witness several of Union Pacific's 'Z' trains which cross the Triple Track, and see U.P. movements with several of their Heritage locomotives! All this movement makes the Triple Track one of the busiest main lines in the Chicago area.
Just about every kind of locomotive that the BNSF rostered in 2007 can be seen in this program! Add in all that variety along with over 150 trains featured in this show and you have one of the best BNSF programs anywhere!!! DVD Narration on/off feature

In this program, videographer Marshall Beecher takes his cameras to multiple mainline crossings at the always busy Blue Island Junction.
This location, most often distinguished by the big steel bridges spanning the Calumet Sag Channel, has a multitude of activity from host roads Indiana Harbor Belt, CSX, Canadian National and Metro's Rock Island District, which passes over the south end of the junction. Throw in a wide variety of pool power and the appearance of run-through moves by roads Canadian Pacific, Union Pacific and BNSF and you will see why Blue Island Junction is such a great Chicagoland hotspot.
Due to the unique track arrangement of the junction, parallel moves from various roads can be seen occurring simultaneously, a sight our cameras had the opportunity to catch on many visits. In addition, shortline and regional action was found, including appearances from the Iowa Interstate and Chicago Rail Link. Add in predecessor power from the UP BNSF and the CN, and you will witness the cornucopia of action that this legendary hotspot is known for.
For a colorful spectrum of freight and passenger action. Blue Island Junction cannot be beat!

Our first stop is at Stateline Interlocking near Hammond, Indiana. Straddling the Illinois and Indiana border, Stateline was once the World's largest mechanical interlocking. This location was once home to 30 diamond crossings and has now whittled down to only 8. However, don't let the downgrade fool you, this location still has over 100 trains a day from the CSX, Norfolk Southern and Indiana Harbor Belt.
Then we head to Chicago Heights, Illinois at Jay Tower. This location is the crossing of the Elgin, Joliet & Eastern and the Union Pacific/CSX. The variety of trains at this location makes it a favorite among many area railfans! Bright orange locomotives from the EJ&E, along with the high horsepower monsters from the UP and CSX thunder over the diamonds at Jay Tower. Our cameras were even treated to a couple appearances of the Union Pacific's Katy and MoPac Heritage Locomotives!

Fallen Flag locomotives from the current railroads make frequent appearances including Soo Line and Illinois Central. Other railroads visit the B-12 area including CSX, Union Pacific, Norfolk Southern and Iowa Chicago & Eastern.
Then it is off to West Chicago. Here, the Elgin Joliet & Eastern's Turner Tower is still in operation as it protects the crossing with the Union Pacific's ex-Chicago & North Western Overland Route. Donner Pass the name evokes daunting obstacles with good reason. Steep grades and seven months a year of winter weather put a railroad's resources to the test. Yet the need to transport goods over the Sierras produces a nonstop parade of trains over this famous line, and that was especially true in 1988 when Video Rails captured incredible Southern Pacific action over Donner Pass.
Starting at the classification yards in Roseville, California, you'll follow Southern Pacific's trains up and over "The Hill." SP's 6-axle SD40s, SD40T-2s, SD45s, and SD45T-2 tackle 138 miles of up to 2.4 percent grades. Up to 11 units are needed for the climb. The standard arrangement for these 10,000-ton trains is 4 by 6, with four engines leading and 6 mid-train helpers, but you'll also see long trains with six units leading, six mid-train helpers, and an end-of-train helper. Cabooses are also seen in use here. At Colfax, you'll see helpers being added to the front and rear of the trains. This is also a stopping point for Amtrak's twice-daily California Zephyr, several of which are seen with private cars trailing. You'll follow these trains to Alta, Blue Canyon, Emigrant Gap, Yuba Gap, Cisco, Norden and the "Big Hole," a 2-mile long tunnel that runs directly under Donner Pass.
Special highlights of this show include rare films of the line's construction, footage of the trapped City of San Francisco Train 101 at Yuba Pass in 1952, snow fighting equipment with steam powered rotaries pushed by Cab Forwards and other steam power, and chilling views of 1980s railroading through winter blizzards. The scenery is spectacular and the railroading is as intense as it gets when Southern Pacific tackles Donner Pass!

Our third segment is the Last Run of the ROYAL GORGE passenger train with an F-unit and 3 coaches as heads south of Denver toward Colorado Springs and Pueblo where there are numerous passengers getting on and off. Then the train heads west through the Royal Gorge, where a stop is made for passengers. Then its on to Salida, where the train is turned on a wye, for the return to Denver for the last time. Again we stop at the Hanging Bridge in the Royal Gorge, and this time there is a rock slide. Later our photographer gets a cab ride into Denver Union Station.
To finish off this program, we have added scenes of the Moffat Route shot in 1994 taken by Greg Scholl of the California Zephyr between Moffat Tunnel and Dotsero. This includes two different westbound trains, and one eastbound that has three units on it, including a Rio Grande leading. This train is interesting, and includes one of most dramatic bad weather shots on video!!! If all this were not enough we included some footage we got at the last minute that shows some scenes at Pueblo station shot between 1951 and 1953, and includes a couple of steam shots, as well as some scenes of the Royal Gorge Passenger train. All the 16mm film scenes in this program have music and narration since there was no sound on the films of course. However, we do have the 1981 footage with train sounds, as well as the 1994 video we shot. This is a nice cross section of material showing passenger service in the Colorado Rockies. The Rio Grande operated the last Streamlined passenger trains in this region, before Amtrak eventually took over the Denver to Salt Lake Segment.
Over 500 Trains!
From the great San Bernardino Valley to the high desert community of Barstow lies one of the busiest and most scenic mainlines in the country. At just over 81 miles in length, the BNSF Cajon Sub is a powerful artery that plays an integral role in moving trains to and from Southern California. With its stiff climb over Cajon Pass, endless flow of traffic, and vistas of stark beauty, the Cajon Sub is a place of limitless photo opportunities for railroad photographers.
We take you on a journey of epic proportions across this railroading hot spot. For close to five years, leaving almost no mile undocumented, filming over 500 trains during winter snow storms and summer heat, we searched out incredible photo locations to take you into the heart of this line as it's never been seen before!
BNSF, Union Pacific, and Amtrak deliver nonstop thrills here. These trains are covered on the Mojave Desert between Barstow and Victorville as well as on the challenging Pass. We also capture the action on Union Pacific's Colton-Palmdale Cutoff as it parallels the BNSF on Cajon Pass. You'll see numerous trains with foreign power leading, along with other surprises such as passenger specials and Grand Canyon Railway steam engines and tenders riding on flatcars. Plus, you'll catch sight of the early stages of new mainline construction and tunnel daylighting projects as well. There's so much to see!
On Discs One and Two you'll explore the lines in detail from San Bernardino to Barstow. Discs Three and Four take you back to San Bernardino with all new footage. None of the images you see here have been used in any other production. This is 12 hours of all new material! You won't want to miss a second of our blockbuster presentation, The Ultimate Cajon Subdivision!
